In the last few podcasts, I've had discussions of the "Let's Talk Love Language" series. I don't know about you, but this series has been eye-opening, revealing, and at some points, uplifting!
Now the goal of discussing these languages is to understand better which love language speaks to you AND/OR to figure out why it matters to you so much in the first place!

In the last episode, we talked about the love language of Receiving Gifts, and what a great dialogue we had!  We could have gone on and on, but we had to pull back! If you haven't checked out all, the languages we have discussed thus far, you should check out the previous episodes. Courtney shared with us the benefits of the love languages and how gift-giving is a symbolism, along with other great tips  - definitely a must-listen-to!

In this episode, we are discussing the love language of Quality Time!
How does the other person view this? What does it mean exactly? We talked about how QT is when the other person is in tune with me; not necessarily audible or in a monologue, but IN MY SPACE!!
Listen to why we said it's an agreed-upon attention towards each other!
We gave examples of Quality time activities, too!

This episode challenge? If Quality Time is NOT your love language, take time to consider what QT is for you! Do you struggle with this, why?  Email me at pamela@pamelabean.net and let me know your response, thoughts on the languages discussed thus far and, what your love language is.  I'd love to hear from you.

In the last few podcasts, I've had discussions of the "Let's Talk Love Language" series. Now the goal of discussing these languages is to understand better which love language speaks to you AND/OR to figure out why it matters to you so much in the first place!

In the last episode, we talked about the love language of Acts of Service, and what a great dialogue we had! If you haven't checked it out, you should do so. Courtney shared with us the benefits of the love languages and how it's an opportunity to show intentionally, shows that you've been heard and it also validates what they've heard - a must-listen-to!

In this episode, we are discussing the love language of Receiving Gifts

Dr. Vagdevi Meunier (a clinical psychologist and Marriage and Relationship counselor) states a few things about this particular love language. Listen to hear what they are! Especially the confusion with the materialistic piece!

This episode challenge? When you receive or give a gift, list 3 things that are symbolic about the gift and the intent about it, then share that with the other person. Email me at pamela@pamelabean.net and let me know your response, thoughts on the languages discussed thus far and, what your love language is.  I'd love to hear from you.

Over the last 2 episodes, we've engaged in the "Let's Talk Love Language" series. In the last episode, we talked about the love language of Words of Affirmation, and it was a very informative dialogue. If you haven't checked it out, I encourage you to. We even had a challenge given to us.... did you take it?

In this episode, we talk about the love language of Acts of Service, and we learned from Courtney how it's a close line to receiving gifts and that there is no time limit in revisiting our languages.

Are you ready for this episode challenge? Tell 2 to 3 ways "Acts of Service" speaks your language and how exactly that has to be communicated. Leave your challenge here or even email me at pamela@pamelabean.net and let me know. I'd love to discuss it on our next episode.

I would love to hear your thoughts on these 2 love languages and if you took the online assessment and learned what your love language is. Email me at pamela@pamelabean.net and let me know.

Last episode we had our intro to "Let's Talk Love Language" series and gave a high-level overview of the 5 languages: Words of Affirmation, Acts of Service, Receiving Gifts, Quality Time, and Physical Touch. In This episode, we dive right into the first language of Words of Affirmation!
You should listen to learn that there are so many elements to this language. Courtney Shields, our guest and licensed therapist tells us that to affirm is not to criticize. It is NOT a negative statement. She provides some great examples and we engage in enlightening conversation.
Remember, these languages are not limited to just romantic, but family, friendship, and workplace as well!!!
CHALLENGE: Courtney challenges you to affirm 3 people daily. Listen to the podcast to hear how that challenge came to be.
This series definitely has you evaluating things!

People throw the word "LOVE" around but how well do we understand the action portion?! In this episode, we discuss love languages, the phenomenon that was introduced to us by Dr. Gary Chapman, author of The 5 Love Languages.
I reached out to my resident therapist, Courtney Shields to discuss all 5 languages over the next few episodes and I am excited to see how this all unfolds. She gives us a high-level overview and we will drive into it deeper in the next few weeks. Based on our discussion, I have a feeling that I will receive some GREAT tips and I hope you will do!

Happy Habits for Happy people

Tuesday May 23, 2023

Tuesday May 23, 2023

I am of the age where I receive and read AARP publications. This particular article caught my attention and hit me differently! It listed 7 habits that help make morning people happier!!! This article was written by Javacia Harris Bowser.
She made me feel hopeful and that I wasn't a lost cause. :-)  Check our conversation out on how she told me that "my morning routine is my routine". She told me to 1) commit to being a morning person and 2) slowly add to the routine that I desire.
Scripting - what's that? Listen to find out what she says!
Some of the habits she mentions are writing the vision, remembering that your morning routine begins at night, and habit stacking!
She has so many projects that you can check out her work: See Jane Write | Find Your Way Back (book on Amazon) | The Writeous Babe podcast (on Apple, Podbean and Spotify platforms). Follow her on Instagram and twitter - @seejavaciawrite.

So much chatter about this movie and I wanted to have a conversation about it since that's what we do at the Launching Pad! I put the ask out there and some of my Skegee family answered! Terrance Scott, Jr (aka T. Scott), Dana Kiel, Tonge English, and I engaged in a great and enlightening conversation. I love it and found it interesting that we got a male perspective on this on well! :-)
We discussed if the character, Queen Charlotte, was based on a real person. We discussed love, diversity, friendship, and that awesome soundtrack! Check the conversation out to see why we mention 'masking" things, being true, authentic and genuine, and conflict avoidance and how/why they came up.
We ALL agreed that Shonda Rhimes has done it again! Strategically and intentially well written that touched on MANY topics!
Check out the show, then listen to the podcast OR listen to the podcast then check out the show. Either way, do both and share YOUR THOUGHTS!!! LOL
Thanks to my peeps that answered my call! Your insight was informative, interesting and invaluable!

Motherhood Blessings

Tuesday May 09, 2023

Tuesday May 09, 2023

The one time of the year, the world celebrates us and all that we do! I wanted to give a shout-out to all of the women, who HAVE a mother, ARE a mother, or MOTHERLY to someone and this conversation celebrates you!
I extended the conversation to all of my previous guests, but due to busy schedules and conflicts, most couldn't join us, but my fellow equity, HBCU advocate, among many other things, sister Cassandra Porter, had a delightful discussion that I hope you enjoy and can relate to.
Cassandra shared that we are parenting through a time we didn't live through! Things are different for us today!
Listen to this episode to see what we mean when we say these words: intergrity, principle, foundation and sandwich generation!!! :-)
What were your Pearls of wisdom given or received??? Please share!
There are many Motherhood blessings!! Happy Mother's Day!!!

Privileged vs. Entitled

Tuesday May 02, 2023

Tuesday May 02, 2023

This topic hit home for me, felt some kind of way about it and felt that we could have a good conversation was needed. What best person to have it with than my equity guru on the topic is Privileged vs. Entitled?! What does it mean? What's the difference and what's the impact?
Some of us limit being Privileged and/or Entitled to just black and white, but it's so much more than that! Check out this conversation and hear my "ah ha moment" during our equity training session, the definition of the two, the 5 types of privilege, and how it can be viewed as a both | and.
Cassandra is an awarding-winning author. Check out her book " I am that ONE BLACK friend"  and her facilitated workbook. They are both available on Amazon and on her website - www.favoritepartofmyday.com, under the store tab.
Listen and share your thoughts. Are you entitled, privilidge or both?
